About the Instructor: Kara Wily has taught the Pilates method for over 15 years. Formerly a professional dancer, Kara was trained as a teacher by Joseph Pilates' own protegee, Romana Kryzanowska. Pilates changed Kara's body and her life. She went on to direct the Pilates Program at the Performing Arts School in Vienna. Kara Wily knows her stuff! She has great form and good tips. This is solidly intermediate but she gave modifications to make it both harder and easier. She tucks in reformer moves with the mat moves. For these she suggests using light hand weights to make it harder which I did and really liked it. I'm not sure it would have been as effective without the weights. For the most part it resembles a normal mat pilates routine until the last 8 min or so. Here she adds in some pushups, brisk hops from plank to squat, and fast leg switches in runner's lunge. I'll have to work up to this because she went fast! This is one of the few pilates workouts where I felt the entire body got equal attention. Her transitions between moves are fast so there is no wasted time in this one. If you're looking for a no-nonsense pilates and you already have familiarity with the moves so you don't mind picking up the pace, this is a good one.
