GET ALL FUNCTIONAL TRAINING SERIES WORKOUTS

Welcome to the Functional Training Series, a series of 4 workouts that are designed to lengthen and strengthen your entire body. These workouts use various combinations of mat and standing exercises to create long, defined muscles. There are lots of angle variations, balance challenges and compound exercises to engage both your mind and body.

THE WORKOUTS ARE:

Barre (45 mins): start with leg swings to wake up your lower body, then a wide plie and resistance band segment, a chair triceps, abs and glutes combo, a complex side leg raise up and down move, a standing barre segment with resistance band and another with light hand weights and finally abs and thigh mat exercises to burn out your last bit of energy.

Sculpt Fusion (46 mins): start with some flowing dynamic stretches and a front and back single leg squats combo. Then use a medium weight to do functional core exercises in a standing and lunge position, you will also see swings and overhead triceps. Then move onto a ballet inspired plie, leg raise, burpee and swan arm segment. You will finish on the mat with a tough abs teaser pendulum segment and stretch.

Up and Down (37 mins): start with dynamic squats, lunges and reaches, then squats with back kicks and hinging lunges, forward lunge with butt kicks, diagonal lunges with side leg raises, a down dog glute raise to lunge combo, a touch side plank oblique segment and a 3 level butt raise set, with a lengthening stretch to finish.

High and Low (42 mins): you will start with dynamic stretching for the upper and lower body, move to a stretch yoga flow series then use light hand weights with large range of motion lunge, squat and raise combinations that will engage your total body. You will burn fat and sculpt all the major muscle groups in your lower body and core. You will finish on the mat with a tough abs segment and a stretch.

What is Barlates Body Blitz: Barlates is a fusion style workout that borrows from pilates, barre, ballet, yoga and more traditional cardio and toning. The idea was to create a workout, which flows seamlessly from one move into the next using the principles of isotension and high repetitions to build long, lean muscles. By using a lighter weight with high repetitions the exercises are designed to target all of those underused smaller muscle groups resulting in a defined, lengthened dancer's physique. This is a real girls workout in the sense that it is fun and feminine, but don't get me wrong it is still super intense with a big burn factor! The workouts are designed to be mixed and matched with an array of 20-30 minute upper body, lower body, abdominal and total body workouts that can be strung together for a longer session or done individually if you are short on time. These workouts will hit all those trouble spots and best of all you don't even need to wear shoes to do them! Get ready to sweat, puff and burn - hopefully you'll love every minute of it!
