Welcome to my CHAIR WORKOUT series! These workouts are designed for anyone who can only so seated workouts. They can be done by people who can use both their upper and lower body but have problems with joints or just the upper body portion can be used for people who cannot use their legs. They are perfect for seniors or anyone suffering with arthritis. Although they are seated, they are highly effective fat loss workouts that will make you sweat and burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time.
THE SET INCLUDES:
Cardio with arms (15 min): you will do the equivalent of 1500 Steps, all whilst seated in a chair. You will use light hand weights or water bottles to work your arms while doing simple steps with your legs (if you are able to use your legs). Every 30 seconds the movement will change slightly to make it more fun and interesting.
Cardio with ball (20 min): use a small playground ball or even a rolled up towel to work your upper body while doing simple stepping moves with your lower body. This one is a fun, high energy session, that is totally joint friendly and easy to follow.
Chair Walking (21 min): you will simulate stepping, all whilst seated in a chair. Although you can go at your own pace, if you keep up with me you will be stepping at a faster pace for a total of 20 minutes. Every 60 seconds the movement will change slightly to make it more fun and interesting.
Cardio with Band (31 min): you will do the equivalent of 3000 Steps, all whilst seated in a chair. You will use a resistance band to work your arms during some of the exercises, but this band is optional and you can easily do the workout without. Every 30 seconds the movement will change to make it more fun and interesting. No difficult choreography in this one, just easy to follow steps and arm exercises that will burn a ton of calories.
Cardio Sculpt Loop & Weights (40 min): use a resistance loop around your legs to engage your thighs whilst performing simple lower body exercises. Add light hand weights to tone your arms with easy to follow exercises. Lots of variety, this one has a more moderate pace, so although it is longer, it is totally doable!
What is Barlates Body Blitz: Barlates is a fusion style workout that borrows from pilates, barre, ballet, yoga and more traditional cardio and toning. The idea was to create a workout, which flows seamlessly from one move into the next using the principles of isotension and high repetitions to build long, lean muscles. By using a lighter weight with high repetitions the exercises are designed to target all of those underused smaller muscle groups resulting in a defined, lengthened dancer's physique. This is a real girls workout in the sense that it is fun and feminine, but don't get me wrong it is still super intense with a big burn factor! The workouts are designed to be mixed and matched with an array of 20-30 minute upper body, lower body, abdominal and total body workouts that can be strung together for a longer session or done individually if you are short on time. These workouts will hit all those trouble spots and best of all you don't even need to wear shoes to do them! Get ready to sweat, puff and burn - hopefully you'll love every minute of it!
